My 2 Favorite Weather Sites  Other truly excellent, easy to use sites
Other New Sites added to this list in 1998 The whole list, broken down by category (April 98)
Note: If you find old links on this page that don't work, pls help everybody else by telling me to remove them. Thanks. peter@sailing.org.ph
My 2 Favorite Weather Sites:
http://152.80.49.210/PUBLIC/WXMAP/GLOBAL/
This is a complicated site that takes some getting used to. If you want a quickie don't go here. If you want complete weather info including wave heights and wind strengths and forecasts for the next week, this is where its at.
STEP 1: Click on "Westpac area". This will take you to a page that will allow you to click on "NGP".
STEP 2: Find the lowest box on the left marked "OVER OCEAN SURFACE WINDS". Click on "all times" or the # of hours from now that you want to see the prediction for. It predicts almost a week in advance!
This site is amazing. There are Aviation (AVN) weather maps, predicted rainfall maps. etc. I think it's one of the best sailing website there is as far as weather is concerned.
It's good for forecasting Philippine weather, but its  greatest value must be  for passage planning in the South East Asian Region.
It uses colors to show wind strengths over wide areas, and uses the standard wind arrows to give direction as well as a more detailed strength estimate.
It gives acurate forecasts of what wind conditions will be over periods of several days, and it even has a movie so you can watch the weather move accross your screen!
CNN's Manila weather site
This used to be my default site on my browser. It's a pretty good site that gets regular updates and is good for the person who doesn't think of windstrength as a top priority. Its got quick downloads of asian maps that show where the storms are.
Other truly excellent, easy to use, Philippine weather sites
http://www.wniphil.com
This is a very new, very versatile site for philippine weather, and the first site that shows local weather. It actually rates as a favorite of mine because of this. It has good typhoon warnings and news. From the main page, you can bookmark weather for specific locations throughout the country. An excellent tool. For example, if you want to check out Tagaytay weather, you can look at http://www.wniphil.com/guests/cities/tagaytay.htm
http://www.npmocw.navy.mil/npmocw/prods/products/wpac/wphwd.gif
Want to know the wind 36 hrs from now? This is a direct connection.
www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/6825/
The Pinoy typhoon site.  I find I'm checking this site more and more.
Other new sites added since April 1998 (most of the better, new, sites are listed above)
http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/PH_cc.html
Gives airport weather, sometimes a bit late though.
The whole list, broken down by category(excludes favorites and  new listings)
